Valentine's Day: Discovering Vintage Miami style

Valentine’s Day is only 3 days away. Are you ready? Luckily, Discovering Vintage Miami is here to help. Not only does the book make a great gift, but its pages also provide tons of fun ideas that are very appropriate for the holiday.

The Discovering Vintage Miami Gift Guide

Find gifts at some of Miami’s most unique vintage establishments.

- Pinecrest Wayside Market - Head to this roadside market and stock up on local food treats from Knaus Berry Farms, Zak the Baker, Roc Kat, and the like. Get crafty and make it a basket - you’re good to go. Don’t forget to order a strawberry shake for yourself while shopping.

- Maya Hatcha - Shop beautiful Guatemalan bedspreads, incense, fun knickknacks and one of a kind jewelry (that will ensure that bedspread gets used).

- Yesterday and Today Records - Take it old school with some record love. Make sure to go with enough time, as there’s so much to look through. We’re talking racks and racks of tightly packed records. Decisions, decisions.

- Austin Burke - Ladies, take it to the next level with a bespoke suit for him.

- Sunset Corners - You can never go wrong with wine and cheese. Opt for a few bottles of Mike Bittel’s favorite, the Stemmari Nero d’Avola. It’s a steal at 7 bucks.

The Discovering Vintage Miami Date Night Guide

Make any night date night with one of these simple, yet oh so Miami date inspirations.

- Get up early and head over to SUPtheworkout in Coconut Grove. On Saturday (Valentine’s Day), there’s an On The Water course from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. After you’re done, you can cool down at nearby AC’s Icees in Kennedy Park or grab lunch on the water at Monty’s Raw Bar.

- Channel your inner child with back-to-back rounds of bowling at Bird Bowl. Skip the arcade food and save room for hot dogs at Arbetter’s. If you’re not too pooped out, continue the childhood throwback at A&M Comics and reminisce about forgotten favorites like Archie and Wonder Woman.

- Little Havana is always fun and with so much history, there’s always something new to explore. At El Rey de las Fritas, sit at the counter and order a Frita Original and a guarapo (sugarcane juice). You’re going to be full afterwards, so take in the sights along Calle Ocho down to 11th avenue where you will find El Titan de Bronze. Watch at least half a dozen of the finest cigar rollers in action.

- Go big or go home at The Forge, and make sure to extra impress your S.O. with all the interesting historical facts you learned.

- Enjoy a mini staycation at any of the hotels featured in the book: The Raleigh Hotel and The Clay Hotel on Miami Beach or The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. Remember, Fox’s Sherron Inn isn’t a hotel.

If all else fails, party it up at Churchill’s Pub. Cheap Miami will be hosting a party full of naughty things we can’t mention on here.
