Coyo Taco: Brickell's newest addition
Wynwood’s popular Coyo Taco opened its second location in Brickell on SW 1st Ave and has already been drawing a crowd from locals and visitors. Lines form around the block for this new Mexican taqueria serving fresh, locally sourced food, handcrafted cocktails and a high energy atmosphere. As a resident of Brickell, it is exciting to see so many new, fun places opening up.
Coyo Taco’s Founders Alan Drummond, Sven Vogtland and Executive Chef/Partner Scott Linquist bring the same fun and casual vibe to this much larger location with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Cool street art decorates the counter and restaurant walls while awesome music gets streamed from the Wynwood location to Brickell.
The menu features the same great bites from their Wynwood location along with new items. Their guacamole, made fresh to order, with crispy tortilla chips for dipping is a great way to start your meal.
A couple special to the Brickell location items include Pulpo Frito (crispy charred octopus taco) with avocado, radish and an ají amarillo aioli is tender, savory and a MUST to order. A popular item at the recent Shore Club pop-up, this has garnered many fans on the mainland as well.
For duck lovers, the shredded duck taco with fresh onions, queso and cilantro is a great choice.
Want something heartier? One of my favorites was Coyo’s “Tortas”, a traditional Mexican sandwich. Paying homage to Miami’s Cuban influence, their Torta of both chicken milanesa, jamon serrano and fresh baked bolillo roll is filling and filled with flavor.
A Mexican staple, sink your teeth into the elote de calle (street corn) with chipotle aioli and cotija.
And to finish on a sweet note, don’t leave without Coyo’s famous freshly made Churros con cajeta.
Along with a rotating list of Mexican and local beers, don’t miss Coyo Taco’s signature Don Julia Margarita which is simple and refreshing.
