Thursday April 14th-Saturday April 16th- Quality Meats Miami Beach is firing up the grill on their patio for an epic Three Day Steer Roast. Executive Chef Patrick Rebholz, fresh from receiving the People’s Choice award at SOBEWFF Meatopia is partnering with Chef Norberto “Negro” Piattoni for a three-day whole steer cookout/extravaganza. Rebholz, an expert in whole animal butchery, and Piattoni, a former employee of renowned Argentine Chef Francis Mallman, will collaborate to create three separate dinners – on Thursday 4/14 hosting an asado BBQ for $59 pp, Friday 4/15 a family-style feast for $79( SOLD OUT) , and on Saturday 4/16 a more formal dining experience at $99, all complete with wine and beer pairings. After two years of development, Makoto Bal Harbour chef Makoto Okuwa, is releasing his private label sake. Makoto Junmai Daiginjo will be available for guests at Okuwa’s eponymous restaurant in Bal Harbour beginning April 11, 2016. The bold and expressive sake features distinct floral characteristics and pairs well with a variety of food from delicate sashimi dishes to hearty options such as the robata grilled meats and fish for which Makoto is well known. Produced in a brewery that was established in 1865 in Akita Prefecture, Japan, Makoto’s private label sake is characterized as a Junmai Daiginjo based on its 50% rice polish ratio and brewed with local rice and water. The Rum Line, at the St Moritz Tower Loews South Beach has launched a new weekly Happy Hour Thursday through Sunday from 4 to 7PM featuring a variety of bites by Executive Chef John Iatrellis including a rotating selection of fresh oysters for $1.25 each; a refreshing Conch Salad ($3) with citrus segments, bell peppers, red onions, cherry tomatoes and cilantro; a savory Mini Oyster Po’boy ($4) with spicy mustard aioli; Shrimp Tostones ($3) topped with mango salsa; and Crispy Calamari ($4) with charred lemon and smoked chili glaze.
