If you’re a fan of food events in Miami, then you’ve probably been in attendance at one of Burger Beast’s annual events that take place almost quarterly at Magic City Casino. Burger Beast is the founder and creator of Croquetapalooza, Hamburger House Party, Weiner Bash, and more. This year he’s bringing back a Saturday Sweets favorite — SugaPie. The local dessert focused event took place for the first time in 2015 and hasn’t resurfaced since.

SugaPie will happen place next Saturday, March 10th from 7pm to 10pm during Hamburger House Party. Entering the competition are 12 sweet spots who will be competing for best dessert in Miami — a new addition as the first SugaPie wasn’t a competition.

Several of our favorites like Frice Cream, Sweetness Bakeshop, and Federal Donuts will be competing.

Three of Miami’s most well known dessert loving personalities will be on hand to judge: Kiko Suarez (Que Rico con Kiko), Max Santiago, and Devin Braddock pastry chef for Blue Collar and Mignonette and also a prodigy of beloved Hedy Goldsmith.

Here’s the full list of competitors:

  • Bottoms Up Gastropub

  • BreadMan Miami Bakery

  • Casa Gioia

  • Empanada Harry’s

  • Federal Donuts

  • Frice Cream

  • HipPOPs handcrafted gelato bars

Tickets for the event are $40 and can be purchased through Eventbrite. The ticket also includes all of the deliciousness of Hamburger House Party, so it’s more than a great deal. There will be 20 burgers entering that part of the competition. Make sure to come hungry. Buy your tickets early, as they are rarely sold at the door and these events always sell out.

All leftover food from the event will be donated to Food Rescue US, a nonprofit that connects chefs and the less fortunate and promotes less food waste. These leftovers will go straight to the Miami Rescue Mission and Lotus House after the event.
