Weekly Nibble: Miami Spice is ON, Lunch at Alter, Summer Cocktails at The Traymore, Piripi and 1930’s House

Wednesday August 5- Late to the Spice game, hot new Wynwood restaurant Alter joins Miami Spice with a special $23 -3 course lunch menu featuring some unique dishes prepared just for Spice by Chef Brad Kilgore featuring local sashimi, blue crab shumai, seared scallops and Chef’s take on the BLT, pressed bacon, smoked tomato jam, and garlic aioli.  Alter  223 NW 23rd St. Miami, Fl. 305 573 5996. 

Sunday August 9- Thompson Miami Beach’s Sunday Night Drinking Club (S.N.D.C) launches at the hotel’s historic 1930’s House. This event salutes industry professionals but everyone is welcome to join the club. S.N.D.C will take place every Sunday night at 7 p.m. (starting Sunday, August 2nd) and will feature select $7 cocktails and food specials throughout the evening. S.N.D.C. is one of many of Thompson Miami Beach’s special weekly programs. 1930s House also features three nightlife events including: Thursdays at 1930s House – Live Open Format with Miami’s Favorite Musicians and DJs at 9 pm Casa Cubana Fridays at 1930s House –with live Cuban band Reiko & Renoir at 9 pm. Saturdays at 1930s House – Old School hip-hop with King Cut at 9 pm.  1930's House at The Thompson Miami Beach 4041 Collins Ave. Miami Beach, FL  786 605 4041

Summer Cocktail Season is here: Lots of creative libations with refreshing fruit infusions like blueberries, pineapple and coconut.

New and Ongoing-

Metropolitan by COMO's sleek Art Deco Traymore Restaurant and Bar is featuring The Garden Cocktail, available to drink at the bar, on the patio or poolside while lounging in the outdoor cabanas, just steps away from the iconic sands of South Beach.  This specialty cocktail by The Traymore Gin Bar is now available at a price of $15 and features Bombay Sapphire gin, St Germain, fresh lime juice, simple syrup and apple juice.  The Traymore at Metropolitan by COMO 2445 Collins Ave. Miami Beach, FL  305 695 3600.

Meat Market: South Beach’s glamorous take on a traditional steakhouse, recently unveiled its brand new, summer cocktails in time for the hot Miami summer months. New refreshing libations include Summer Berry Cobbler ($14) – blackberry puree with simple syrup, peach slices, Lustau Oloroso Dry-Seco, Mint Leaves, Bolivar Bitters and topped with Wild Berry Cider; and L’Orange Fumée ($16) – Sombra Mezcal with Blood Orange Juice, lemon juice, Campari, Ancho Reyes and Agave Nectar.  Meat Market  915 Lincoln Road  305 532 0088.

Quality Meats Miami Beach: Head barman Bryan Schneider has devised a well-balanced and inventive cocktail list for the bar program at Quality Meats. Summer cocktails, made to rejuvenate and refresh, include the Loose Cannon, a fresh spin on tequila cocktails made with fresh pressed celery juice and a house made elixir with almost two dozen herbs and spices, served poured over ice cubes made from jalapeño juice; and the Pina Clara, a draft cocktail that will instantly transfer you to the islands of the Caribbean made with light rum, clarified pineapple and coconut. Quality Meats 1501 Collins Avenue  305 340 3333.

Piripi: Presenting rustic Spanish cuisine amid a sleek contemporary design, Piripi’s culinary creations are as delightful to the eye as they are to the palette. The same can also be said of its innovative cocktails, which embody the true meaning of Piripi – Spanish slang for “happy” or “tipsy.” New summer-time libations on offer include the indulgent All Gussied Up – Moet and Chandon Ice Imperial Champagne with passion fruit; Spiced Melonada – Grey Goose Le Melon Vodka, cantaloupe melon and lime cordial and Shades of Blue – Lavender-infused Titos Vodka, lime juice, simple syrup and Maine blueberry preserve.
