Weekly Nibble: Art Basel + EAT Basel

As over 75, 000 art dealers and art fans descend on Miami for the big shows like PULSE and UNTITLED on Miami Beach and Context/ArtMiamiSpectrum and the many smaller shows in and around Wynwood, a number of parties and food events are available to anyone who braves the traffic to Miami Beach, Wynwood, Midtown and other art-centric areas.  Many kick off the beginning of the week and continue thru Sunday 12/4.  Here is MIAbites Weekly Nibble curated listing for Art Week 2016.

Monday November 28thKick off the start of Art Basel with at LDV Hospitality’s Rooftop at the Gale South Beach on November 28th from 7pm – 10pm. Tasting Table and the Lincoln Motor Company will host the exclusive event.  Tickets cost $45 plus tax and includes three drink tickets, specialty appetizers and shared plates and two interactive stations.   Learn to make a Smoked Old Fashioned – blowtorch included, and how to make two different types of authentic Italian pastas  Suitable for every kind of Basel-goer ( 21+ only), start your week at this trendy rooftop terrace. Tuesday November 29thJoin Human Rights Campaign South Florida as our friends at the White Porch Gallery at R House Wynwood host a special event celebrating Art Basel and the HRC. Art for Equality will feature fun, food, drinks, and a DJ along with a silent auction featuring some of the most talented domestic and international LGBTQ and LGBTQ-allied artists. Wednesday November 30th and December 1-4th- Basel House is the Miami Art Basel experience you won’t want to miss. From 4 p.m. to 5 a.m. on November 30th and 12 p.m. to 5 a.m. on December 1st to December 4th, Basel House will host a number of events showcasing local and global artists. This year, Basel House is taking place at Bitter Truth, Midtown’s newest bar. The five-day concert will feature Miami’s top musicians representing a variety of genres including Hip Hop, R&B and Bluesy vibes. Live art performances include: Cake decorating battle with cakes provided by Lola the Baker who is recognized for her beer and whiskey twists on classic sweets. Friday, November 25 and Friday December 2- Taste of The Yard from 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. at Wynwood Yard. Special Art Basel edition on Wednesday, November 30 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. $25. Taste of The Yard is a weekly event held on Fridays (with a special Art Basel We Are Miami edition on Tuesday, 11/30) that will tingle your senses with offerings from around The Yard. Sunday December 4th - To close off Art Basel 2016, STK Miami will be hosting the debut of its Sunday brunch on December 4. Located in the ME Miami hotel, at a central location from the Basel madness, the vibe-driven steakhouse is the perfect place to cure the week’s inevitable hangover.  STK Miami will offer an à la carte brunch (yes, you can have a large steak for brunch), with a side of Magic City views and amplified beats by live DJs from 11 AM until 4 PM every Sunday.
