Saturday Sweets: National Dessert Day & Amber's Favorites

It’s the sweetest of Saturday Sweets because this weeks was also National Dessert Day! In honor of this delicious holiday I decided I would share some of my absolute favorite desserts in the city with you. Obviously, as my favorites they are most likely desserts you've read about in the past, but they are my favorites for a reason. One of those reasons is because these desserts are ones you can count on to be just as delicious every time you order them.

Miso Bread Pudding, Pubbelly Sushi

Is it possible to go to Pubbelly Sushi and not order the Miso Bread Pudding by Pastry Chef Maria Ortanes? Answer: no, it’s not at all possible. I’m not usually a fan of bread pudding, but this one knocks all others out of the park. It’s a chocolate miso custard over chocolate soaked brioche, covered in cocoa crumbs, sesame soft serve, chocolate ganache and dulce de leche drizzled on top. Everything is made in house by Maria and her small pastry team. I love the subtle Asian influence with the sesame soft serve that keeps with the vibes of Pubbelly Sushi. 1424 20th St, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Chocolate Bourbon Bundt Cake, Sweetness Bakeshop

This is one of those desserts that combines a lot of deliciousness, a little luck, and plenty of bourbon. The luck comes into play because it’s not always available and when they do have it, it’s gone pretty quickly. It’s definitely a right place at the right time kind of dessert - which makes it that much more special. Luckily, since I hang out there a lot I’ve caught this cake several times. It’s rich and chocolaty and there’s always enough booze in it to make you suddenly feel a little more relaxed. 9549 SW 72nd St, Miami, FL 33173

Cinnamon Rolls, Knaus Berry Farm

It’s almost that glorious time of year where Knaus Berry Farm reopens its doors and the long lines for their gooey delicious buns begin to form. Starting October 31st these cinnamon rolls are back on demand and it’s a moment I wait anxiously for every year. There’s something about them that makes the line worth the wait, especially if you’re sipping on one of the fresh strawberry milkshakes while you wait. Protip: there’s usually not much of a line during the weekdays around 10am. I may or may not be completely guilty of playing hookie to get these sticky buns. 15980 SW 248th Street Homestead, FL 33031

Nutella Sundae, Sugarcane raw bar grill

A list of my favorite desserts can’t possibly be complete without some form of Nutella. The Nutella sundae at Sugarcane is all sorts of amazing and fully of hazelnut-y Nutella. It’s a Nutella brownie topped with Nutella ice cream, sprinkled with housemade cracker jacks. Does it get any better than that? I don’t think it does. Every time I’ve ordered this dish I’m always amazed at how pretty it is, as it’s served on a bright teal plate. Brownies a la mode are hands down my go to dessert and this one is as good as it gets. 3252 NE 1st Ave, Miami, FL 33137
