SEED Wine & Food Festival & Plant-based BBQ Throwdown Recap

Last Wednesday's Plant-Based BBQ Throwdown was a great sneak peek into the deliciousness that is to come soon at the SEED Food and Wine Festival on November 1-5, 2017.

In the welcoming venue that is The Wynwood Yard, four restaurants competed by showcasing their not so traditional plant-based versions of BBQ classics.

Della Test Kitchen served a refreshing Grilled Maitahe Steak with quinoa and greens.

Love Life Cafe made a vegan version of a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich and used roasted carrots as their protein. The sweetness and crunchy texture along with fresh greens and freshly baked bread was a delicious combo!

Miami Smokers known for being the King of Meats, created a vegan taco with beer battered oyster mushrooms made with Wynwood Brewery beer.

Lastly, Soul Tavern, the newest vegetarian/vegan restaurant addition to South Beach, created a flavorful Kimchee and Tempeh Slider with vegan Mac 'n Cheese. Soul Tavern's chef told us their secret ingredient was using coconut milk for their rich and creamy Mac n Cheese.

All the food was so delicious, that even non-vegans loved it! And a good selection of vegan beers and cocktails added to the plant-based dining experience.

The attendees voted and the winners of the BBQ contest were Love Life Cafe and Miami Smokers!

If you're vegan, love to eat vegan food or just curious about eating delicious plant-based food, SEED Food and Wine is not just a festival, but a movement, a community of ideas and passionate people committed to elevating the conversation around plant-based foods, sustainability, conscious living and the welfare of animals.
