MKT by bazbaz: HOOD FOOD in Wynwood this weekend

If you have not yet ventured to Wynwood on a Saturday and checked out the pop up lifestyle MKT by bazbaz, this coming Saturday, April 29th should be marked on your calendar.

This week’s theme is, “HOOD FOOD”, and MIAbites is honored to co-host with Slow Food Miami and Urban Greenworks.  The focus will be on local food sources, healthy eating and farming in Miami and socially conscious food non-profits.

Located on an empty corner of North Miami Ave and 21st St,  the creative real estate developer with an eye towards social issues, Bazbaz Development, has chosen instead of leaving empty a lot slated for future development, to create a community minded open air Art Installation and Marketplace.  Currently open 1-7 pm thru May 27th, based on current success, MKT is considering expanding into evenings with live music and other activities.

A rotating list of over 30 vendors each week include 100% cotton apparel from Summertime by Sylvie, hand painted rings and wearable art by Rose’s Rosewoods, Creative cards by designer Valeria Krasavina, Geometric art by Zirconwolf Art, Sayblee organic hair products, Handmade and Vintage jewelry and more, all within a backdrop of Brazilian artist, Angelica Dass'  HUMANAE, a statement on diversity and color.

This coming Saturday’s program is all about local food.  Local food vendors include Smart Bites, Dosha Ayurvedic Foods, Jucy Lu, Lady Fingrs handmade popsicles, Dragonfly Lean Cuisine, Coconut Stock, Green Frog Coffee, Fresh artisan bread from Lesage Bakery (including their amazing plantain bread), fresh organic produce and fruit from Chelsea Farms,  and a pop up Juice Bar using fresh ingredients like tamarind and moringa from Mustard Seed project urban farms.

The full schedule of special HOOD FOOD events is as follows:

2-2.30 PM: Urban Greenworks' Maggie Pons on the urban farming project "Mustard Seed". Q&A about this inspiring non-profit that teaches Urban Farming to formerly incarcerated women.
3-4 PM: Ari Blik- Electropop live performance
4 PM: Green Papaya salad preparation demo and tasting- Q&A on choosing local ingredients year round in Miami by Carol Lopez Bethel from Slow Food Miami
5-5:30 PMAri Blik- Electropop live performance.

And DJ David Rondon will be on hand all day spinning and mixing some great music.

Take a few hours away from your Saturday errands and support local at MKT by bazbaz.
