South of Fifth’s Cibo Wine Bar

Cibo Wine Bar Charcuterie Platter

Cibo Wine Bar is one of the biggest Italian restaurants on all of South Beach. The 12,000 square food space is impressively large with a blend of old world rustic charm and industrial chic modernism.  With six Cibo locations in Toronto and Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Liberty Entertainment Group prides itself on authentic Italian cuisine in beautiful settings.

If the 60ft open kitchen counter isn’t enough to draw your attention immediately, then maybe the 3500 bottles of wine in a soaring two-story award-winning wine room equipped with harnessed wine angel to retrieve your favorite bottle. Yes, a WINE ANGEL – that’s her job title.

I was recently invited in as part of a pre-birthday celebration. Wine + Birthday = Happy Amber, it’s a simple equation.

We started the evening off at the bar with Marco, who makes amazing cocktails, and a charcuterie platter. Once we were pleasantly filled with their in-house cured meats and cheeses, we moved over to the wine room where our wine angel flew above us and brought down a few bottles of her favorites.

After being wowed by wine, we headed to a table for dinner. The dining room is one of those gorgeous rooms that can’t possibly be captured in a picture; you just need to see it for yourself.

For dinner we opted for the Burrata served with Prosciutto di Parma, arugula, and aged balsamic vinegar and then Chopped Raw Tuna with lemon, Sicilian capers, avocado, extra-virgin olive oil, sea salt as our appetizers. Both were delicious! The tuna may even have been one of the best I’ve ever had and when it comes to burrata, you can never go wrong.

For the entrees we decided to pick two and split them, because that’s always the best way to go when you want to eat one of everything on the menu. We had the San Matteo Pizza with mozzarella, spicy Italian sausage, rapini, garlic. The pizza had a perfectly doughy crust and the sausage had just the right amount of spice.

We also had the Tagliatelle with traditional Bolognese sauce tons of Parmigiano Reggiano. There are almost 20 different pastas on the menu, making it a really hard choice to make but I’m a sucker for fresh Tagliatelle noodles. It was exactly what I was craving.

There is always room for dessert, but we cheated and had it first! It was a birthday celebration after all. The Panna Cotta was absolutely amazing. It was creamy and covered in wonderfully tart fresh berries. Panna cotta with a glass of prosecco on the side should be mandatory when celebrating a birthday at Cibo Wine Bar.
