Per'La Specialty Roasters Bring Home Good Food Award Win

As much as we’re guilty of being all about the newest, trendiest, celebrity-owned restaurant  — our truest love at MIAbites is supporting locally grown talent. So we were especially excited to see when one of our favorite coffee roasters, Per’La Specialty Roasters, won a Good Food Award in San Francisco this last week.

The Good Food Awards honor American food and drink crafters who demonstrate a commitment to creating tasty, authentic and responsible products and in doing so, better the nation’s food system. Categories include all of our favorite things: cheese, chocolate, confections, beer, cider, spirits, coffee, and more. See the full list of winners here.

Our boys at Per’La were the only roaster in the southeast to be selected for the award, which is a pretty big deal. If you haven’t had Per’La, there’s a chance you’ve done so and didn’t even know it — this coffee is all over the city.

The Per’La Specialty Roaster team isn’t a big factory with workers running around like ants. It’s actually just two guys who met in college, and reconnected a few years later with a big idea. Paul Massard has an expert sense of taste. He’s a Certified Q Grader by the Coffee Quality Institute. In the coffee world that’s as high as it gets. Chris Nolte is a master at marketing and branding. He’s got the business end down to a science. Together this duo is making their mark in Miami by making some damn good coffee. Per’La coffee is currently carried in over 30 spots in Miami and is even in some coffee shops in Kansas. First Kansas, then the world — right guys?

Find them everywhere from hotels, to restaurants, to in your favorite drink at Jugo Fresh. Check them out at the Setai (one of their very first accounts), The Standard, The Confidante, any Jose Andres restaurant, Glass & Vine, Eating House, Stubborn Seed, Casa Florida, All Day Miami, Lady and the Mug, Habitat, the Bookstore in the Grove, Box Cold Brew, and soon in the new Telemundo building’s cafe among others.

We're so proud of Per'La and the guys behind the brand. We've been rooting for them since day one — which is was just over two years ago! We've come to appreciate coffee a bit more and love supporting our locals. Can't wait to see what these guys do next!
