Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar: All Day, Everyday

Somewhat hidden in the Faena Bazaar at 3400 Collins is Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar. As indicated by the line out the door on any given morning, it is no longer hidden from the local Mid-Beach residents and Faena guests.

In a building that formerly housed the Ice Cream Museum and now has four floors of upscale and unique shops and a rooftop private lounge, Crema has taken over the street level and outdoor courtyards for al fresco dining. Blue and white striped umbrellas and woven cafe chairs and hanging wicker baskets offer a cheery setting for the extensive breakfast, lunch and light dinner menu.

An Illy coffee bar and espresso machine is front and center with a variety of coffee drinks available both hot and iced.

“All Day, Everyday” is Crema's tag line and the menu does not disappoint. Breakfast is available “All Day” and includes selections ranging from healthy options like Greek yogurt with granola and fresh fruit, Acai bowls, and Oatmeal to more substantial items like fluffy Chocolate Chip Pancakes, topped with toasted almonds.

and a hearty Open Face Breakfast Sandwich, with brioche toast with ham, swiss cheese, bacon and two fried eggs any style.

We also opted for the Salmon Bagel plate, which came with a really good sesame bagel, dill cream cheese and smoked salmon, tomato, red onion and capers.

Creative Toasts like the tuna toast with ahi tuna, avocado, arugula and sesame seeds joins the popular smashed avocado toast over multigrain toast with red pepper flakes and olive oil.

Fresh pressed juices and smoothies are served in glass jars and we especially liked the Green Team of cucumber, lime, ginger and green apple and the Berry Acai, with berries, banana, and coconut water.

Lunch items include a wide selection of sandwiches including caprese, turkey club, prosciutto, tuna salad and more served on a multi grain baguette.

Salads are fresh and include mixed greens and a variety of add on options and include Greek Salad, Beet Salad, and Chicken Caesar. While the beet salad was delicious and packed with red beets and goat cheese, I found the dressing a bit too overpowering ,so next time I will ask for on the side or lightly dressed.

Bowls are actually more like plates and include a fresh and colorful array of cucumber, carrot, avocado, edamame, cherry tomatoes and can be topped with proteins. Choices include Quinoa Bowl, Ahi Tuna Poke, Chicken breast, and an herbed oven roasted Salmon filet over brown rice and arugula.

Pasta dishes are also available for early supper dining with 3 penne pasta dishes to choose from.

The service is well organized as you order at the counter and then are given a number and the food is delivered to you.

Crema is a nice oasis in Mid-Beach, an area fairly devoid of healthy and fresh dining options, and a very welcome addition. And be sure to check out their other five locations in the Miami area.
