Wynwood Brewing: Pioneering Miami's Craft Beer Movement
Miami’s culinary scene is bursting with new restaurants, talent, and concepts. It is quickly catching up with the other food and drink centric cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

Wynwood has arrived.
Although there are a few new Miami breweries who have set up shop in Wynwood Art District, the pioneer of the craft beer movement was Wynwood Brewing Company. They were the first craft production brewery to open in the area in 2011 . Wynwood Brewing Company is all about giving back and integrating with the neighborhood they know and love. They host daily tours of the brewery, have weekly events like "paint and pint" and "growler hour", host food trucks and other local vendors that bring in products that pair well with their beers.
Wynwood Brewing Company, founded by Luis C. and Luis G. Brignoni, is a Puerto Rican family owned and operated establishment with roots in Miami. Their objective: “bring fresh, delicious, and creative beers to thirsty South Floridians and tourists alike.” Every beer is brewed with love and passion to ultimately create a work of art in every glass. Wynwood's main Cellarman and Assistant Brewer, David X Rodriguez, is pretty hard to miss as his long beard makes him easy to spot. He is quoted as saying , " Never trust a brewer without a beard ".
The brewery features an artsy and open tap room that seats up to 50 people, with vibrant street art from talented artists near and far inside the room and on the walls outside of the building.
It takes 7 hours to create a batch and each batch produces 15 barrels. They operate a 15-barrel brewhouse. That means creating one type of beer takes a lot of meticulous time, care and energy because they can only brew one at a time.
Wynwood Brewing creates a Blonde Ale, India Pale Ale, Gold Medal-winning Robust Porter, barrel aged Strong Ales and a rotation of seasonal offerings. If you visit their tap room on Tuesdays, they usually feature one of the seasonal beers or a creative experimental beer.
