Gearing up for more SOBEWFF: Day Two Recap

The appetizer portion of #SOBEWFF is officially over, Now on to #TheMainCourse!

Recap from Day Two included Trade Day and a number of signature and wildly popular events, many with revised venues due to the record low temps.

Highlights include:

Oyster Bash- Held indoors at at Lure Fishbar , this event was packed with briny bivalve enthusiasts. Island Creek from Duxbury MA, provided the oysters , which were served freshly shucked and raw at a number of stations.  Featured were debut of Izzy’s by Chef Jamie Derosa, Chef Josh Capon of Lure, and Danny Serfer of Mignonette. There was plenty of cocktail sauce and mignonette and oyster sliders, oyster ceviche, fried oysters, oyster latkes,  and host Chef Ming Tsai was shaking up a pepper infused vodka oyster shooter, which quickly became a very popular station.

Amstel Light Burger Bash-  SOBEWFF signature event, held on the beach was so full of attendees the body warmth kept everyone warm and happy.   Rachael Ray returned for her 9th year as host, and over 25 burgers battled to be named “Best Burger” .  Chef Josh Capon of Lure must of felt like he was at the Academy Awards when he brought home the top Judges award and Pincho Factory was named Peoples Choice.

Cobaya Dinner Miami at its best as the Cobaya Miami team hosted their first “underground” Cobaya Dinner at SOBEWFF at the PAMM Museum Not to worry, the event was moved indoors to the sleek Stephen Starr restaurant, Verde, which did not put a damper on the evening one bit.  Hosted by Andrew Zimmern , the unique and creative dishes were presented by Chef Michael Schwartz, Kaytlin Brakefield of Verde, and Chef Makoto Okuwa of Makoto.

Morimoto and FriendsTake if from Chef Morimoto to host the Late Night Sushi fest at The Shelborne Hotel.  The party, which started at 10 pm, seemed to be well underway the minute the doors opened as many attendees had already been drinking and partying elsewhere.  The festive experience  was held poolside so a bit chilly, but the Japanese market-like selections including Peking duck .sushi, sashimi and dumplings made for a fun cap to Day Two.

There are still some tickets available for events the rest of the weekend at www.sobefest.com
