James Beard "Better Burger" project: Miami Chefs participate

The James Beard Foundation is inviting restaurants and chefs all across the country to participate in the Better Burger Project™ by featuring a “Better Burger” on their menus. And encouraging their patrons to post pictures of the burger to Instagram with the #BetterBurgerProject tag.

The Better Burger Project is an in-restaurant menu promotion that runs from Memorial Day to July 31st and strives to improve the burger by blending ground meat with finely chopped mushrooms, creating a more delicious, healthy, and sustainable burger. The James Beard Foundation is inviting restaurants and chefs all across the country to participate by featuring a “Better Burger” on their menus.

And some of our favorite Miami chefs have joined in this healthy project where rules are strict and include creating your “Better Burger,” blending at least 25-percent fresh, cultivated ground mushrooms into your burger patty.

The participating chefs will be posting onto Instagram their versions and encourage followers to upload their own images following the below rules:

ORDER a “Better Burger” from a participating chef and restaurant
 POST
a photo of the dish to Instagram along with #betterburgerproject
 TAG
the restaurant and/or chef
 TELL US
what’s “better” about your burger

After the promotion concludes on July 31, 2015, the five (5) chefs with the most Instagram uploads by consumers will win a trip to New York City in October 2015 to cook their “Better Burgers” at the official welcome reception for the annual JBF Food Conference at the historic James Beard House.

Participating restaurants and chefs include:

Chef Timon Balloo and Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill

Chef Cesar Zapata and The Federal Food, Drink and Provisions

Bulla Gastrobar

Chef Diego Oka of La Mar by Gaston Acurio at The Mandarin Oriental Miami

Eat Well , Be Well and enjoy a Better Burger between now and July 31st and help your favorite chef win and trip to NYC.
