Miami Local Eats: Favorite “go to” spots from MIAbites Contributors

Miami Local Eats favorites by MIAbites Contributor

So much has been written recently about the exciting growth of the Miami food scene. The talented chefs, creative use of ingredients and fresh local produce, upscale ethnic flavors and emerging neighborhoods have garnered much praise and numerous James Beard nominations

But how about where we live?  How about that good meal for under $100 per person? MIAbites is proud to feature our favorite local spots “down the street or around the corner” from where we all live.

Marian Bacol-Uba-  Downtown/Brickell

Ceviche 105 aji amarillo and causa

Aji de gallina and Causa from Ceviche 105

Jennifer Massolo- Miami Beach (and with teenagers!)

HuaHuas Taqueria and Pubbelly Sushi Miami Beach

Well our local “go to” spots are Huahuas Tacos, Spris Pizza and Pubbelly Sushi.

Alex Beck-  Miami Lakes

Cancun Grill Miami Lakes

In Miami Lakes, I love Cancun Grill, a classic, and El Pimento :)

Manuela Meija-  Downtown/ Brickell

Bachour Bakery & Bistro and Stanzione Pizza

Without a doubt, my favorites are Bachour Bakery & Bistro for brunch/treats and Stanzione for my favorite pizza in town. If I could live off of two things and two things only it'd be the Margherita Pizza from Stanzione and the Ham and Cheese Croissant from Bachour and a little Sangria too ;)

Andrew Giambarba- Coral Gables

The Local Coral Gables Seven Dials Cafe Curuba

The burger at The Local on 150 Giralda

The Nasi Goreng, smashed Avo or anything at Threefold Cafe including a killer Specialty Coffee program.

Literally ANYTHING at The Seven Dials - especially the fish & chips and the special salads that highlight local produce.

And then dessert and coffee at Cafe Curuba

Amber Love Bond- South Miami/Sunset

Kampal Miami Normans Sandwiches

Kampai has been around for over twenty years, I took my first bites of sushi as a toddler there and it hasn't let me down since. I order from them so often that when I call they ask if it's a sushi night or a Thai night. Must haves: Tuna Mushi and the Special Pad Thai.

Norman Brothers is my go to sandwich spot, they make Boar's Head wraps almost too big to hold.

When I need sweets (which is always) you can find me at Sweetness Bakeshop surrounded by cupcakes and downing lattes made with Per'la coffee.

When I need comfort food aka something warm and cheesy, it's all about Pizza Johny's and their Chicken Parm Sub! Johny is straight out of New York and knows exactly what he's doing, pizza and all!

Diana Rodriguez- Doral

Delirio Fresh Doral.jpeg

Doral is my second home. I've gone around looking for healthy spots with some deliciously filling food, and I've got to say Delirio Fresh is one of my faves. With options from smoothies, bowls, salads and make-your-own savory bowls, there's a fresh choice for every individual. My go-to is Thai beef with quinoa and a balsamic salad.

Ellen Bowen- Miami Beach

Taquiza Totopos My Ceviche Poke Fried Chicken Joes Stone Crab

I am obsessed with totopos and guac from Taquiza, Aji Amarillo Combination Ceviche or Tuna Poke from My Ceviche, Fried Chicken from Joe’s Takeaway ( and Publix when right out of the oven ) And any of the sandwiches made to order from Proper Sausages in Miami Shores.
