Saturday Sweets: The Salty Donut Has A New South Miami Spot
The second location of the cult-favorite artisanal donut shop, The Salty Donut, has finally announced its opening date in South Miami. On Friday, May 24th The Salty Donut SoMi will officially open its doors. This larger store means more offerings and experiences, and more donut flavors specific for this location.
In celebration during opening weekend, the first 50 customers each day (Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26) will receive a celebratory, limited-edition tote bag filled with a branded diner mug, Salty Donut Grand Opening Blend of Intelligentsia coffee and a SoMi sticker. That’s not all, for the first ten days there’s going to be a specialty Rum Cake Croughnut in collaboration with Havana Club Rum. Available only at the South Miami location — it is a 24hr layered brioche croughnut filled with a Havana Club Rum infused custard, rolled in cinnamon sugar, topped with Valhrona Dulcey buttercream & homemade rum cake crumbles.
All the OG favorites will be on the new spot’s menu like the traditional glazed, brown butter & salt, maple bacon and guava & cheese, along with location specific chef's specials. The kitchen is completely open for that behind the scenes peek.

We wanted The Salty Donut SoMi to have a very welcoming yet exciting feel; to be that neighborhood spot where people feel comfortable and want to come and hang out” says Pizarro-Rodriguez. “We poured our hearts and soul into the new shop, no detail was left unturned, and we are so incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished. We can’t wait to share it with our Salty fam.”
Much like the Wynwood shop, The Salty Donut SoMi will feature a coffee program in partnership with Chicago-based, Intelligentsia. The expert team of baristas has been training for nearly four months for this specific store to offer Salty fans the best coffee around. Guests can expect favorites like the cereal milk coffees offered in Wynwood as well as a larger selection of rotating, seasonal blends on top of an expanded events program to be announced soon.
