The kid goes viral: Meet "The Shirley Temple King" via CTbites

The Shirley Temple King

Our sister site, CTbites featured 6-year-old Leo Kelly of Fairfield CT, “The Shirley Temple King”, and once People Magazine Food Editor, Shay Spence tweeted out about him, he went viral going from 300 followers to 39K in 24 hours. Here is the original article by CTbites Founder, Stephanie Webster.

Leo Kelly, a 6 year old first grader in Fairfield CT has dreams of becoming “King,” well, the Shirley Temple King that is. Leo aspires to be the childhood arbiter of all things Shirley Temple (yes, the popular childhood beverage) , and he is making his way around Fairfield County doing just that. You can find him on Instagram at @theshirleytempleking, so heads up local restaurant owners. Time to get your Shirley Temple game on fleek.

We asked the “King” what makes a great Shirley Temple, and Leo said " A glass, 3 cherries, and a good balance of grenadine."

His parents, Lisa and Tom, say “he has been obsessed with drinking Shirley Temples forever and orders them wherever he goes.” Leo is a super precocious kid whose father works in the marketing and media space, so of course, the natural next steps for a mild obsession is to launch an Instagram account. The family is fully invested in his quest and helps him make the rounds when he gets thirsty.
