NBA Stars Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem Open 800° Woodfired Kitchen in Aventura

Today is opening day for 800° Woodfired Kitchen in Aventura. Owned by Miami Heat royalty, Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem, this spot is making way more than just pizza in its woodfired oven.

We got a sneak peek early this week and are happy to report, it’s worth a visit. While it may be a little tough to find — keep in mind that it’s near the Publix right behind Aventura Mall.

800° Woodfired Kitchen is a concept with locations all over the world, founded by Anthony Carron, who perfected his craft while working with Michael Mina.

The menu features dishes that are perfect for family style dining. In the appetizer section you’ll find meatballs, spreads and crudite, roasted oysters, whole jumbo artichoke, and a delicious cauliflower covered in golden beet tahini and of course there’s Ud’s Woodfired Wings covered in Calabrian chile served with a creamy gorgonzola dip. They are Udonis’s favorite item on the menu and if you hear him talk about them, you can tell he put a lot of time into developing just the right amount of kick.

There are salads for those who want to stick to something a little lighter, but you’d be missing out if you didn’t order from the rotisserie section. Here you’ll find a Bell & Evans Pennsylvania chicken served with Peruvian green sauce that Wade says is one of his favorite things on the menu. His other favorite: DWade’s Woodfired Burger with house chopped beef, bacon, truffle cheese, heirloom tomatoes, roast garlic aioli and red oak lettuce. Wade says bacon cheeseburgers are his favorite food, and he’s still working on getting this one to be just right.

The menu has a bevy of sides and fresh fish dishes, and of course 10 specialty woodfired pizzas to choose from. You’ll find classics like margherita or tartufo and some more adventurous options like the smoked salmon pastrami pizza that nearly resembles a lox and bagel dish.

Make sure to save room for dessert, as the menu features classic key lime pie, tres leches bread pudding, and a Nutella calzone.

For those who are wondering, Wade says he’ll be sticking around another season — you know, to watch the restaurant and because Miami will always be his home.
