National Oyster Day: Where to celebrate in Miami

OystersGeneral.jpg

Growing up in New England meant many things; fall foliage, winter ice and snow, spring flowers, and some pretty hot summers. But one of the best things was learning to appreciate the briny bivalves know as oysters. I even spent a day on an oyster boat with Copps Island Oyster Company out of Norwalk, CT.

There are over 150 varieties of oysters from New England, the West Coast and other areas in the US and Canada and all are named for the body of water they come from, and I learned about the difference in flavor depending on salinity and whether it was deep water, moving water, bay, harbor or sound.

National Oyster Day is this Thursday, August 5th, and here are some of the top spots to celebrate the oyster and enjoy the many varieties available here in Miami.
