The Rum Line: South Beach’s new cocktail destination

Palm trees swaying in the breeze, whiffs of cool, salty ocean air , strings of lights above creating a warm glow as you sip on your handcrafted cocktail.  Wait, where is this? Welcome to The Rum Line. This new watering hole located at the Loews Hotel in South Beach is a cocktail lover’s dream.  Adjacent to Lure Fishbar, The Rum Line is an al fresco Caribbean-inspired bar that evokes the cocktail culture of the 1930s to the 1960s and features a rum-centric cocktail menu.

Master mixologist and all-around cocktail badass, Bar Director Rob Ferrara, is the genius behind the cocktails at The Rum Line and if you’ve ever had a cocktail at Lure then you know he doesn’t play around.  Crowned “Best Bartender” by the Miami New Times, Ferrara is extremely passionate about what he does and his goal is to create a casual spot where the customer can come relax in a tropical setting and indulge in unique one-of-a-kind elixirs. “The origin of the bar’s name hails from the prohibition era when ships from the Caribbean transported rum to Florida’s coasts to supply the speakeasies,” says Ferrara. “We’re bringing back the rum renaissance by paying homage to Hemingway and the brilliant minds of that time with classic cocktails at an accessible price, in a laid-back environment.”

The menu is varied with cocktails divided into “Old School” and “New School”.  Selections from the “New School” include the Port of Call made with Atlantico Riserva, Ancho Reyes, Solbeso, almond milk, passion fruit, lime, cinnamon and the breezy St. Moritz Swizzle made with Facundo Neo, Green Chartreuse, pineapple, lime, and mint.

The Rum Line also features daiquiris and these are not the syrupy, sugary drinks that you’re used to. They’re made in the classic style--not shaken, but stirred. The Hemingway daiquiri is a mixture of Bacardi Heritage, Luxardo maraschino, fresh grapefruit, and lime.

Punch bowls are also available and they are great for groups as they serve 3-4 people and come in a variety of price levels that can suit all budgets.

If you’re in the mood to snack on something while you sip, The Rum Line features savory and shareable bites like crispy oysters, mini lobster rolls, grilled shrimp skewers, baby back ribs with guava BBQ sauce, and more!

Stop by for a drink (or two) Thursdays through Sundays from 6pm to 2am.
