Weekly Nibble: Bourbon Month, Burgers, Babes & Booze, Gin & Jazz, Key Lime Pies, Lobster Day and more

September seems to be packed with “special” food holidays.  The entire month is Bourbon Heritage Month, September 18th is National Cheeseburger Day, September 25th is National Lobster Day, September 26th is Key Lime Pie Day and September 29th is National Coffee Day.  This week’s Weekly Nibble will try to cover all of those holidays with local options, in addition to regular food and drink events.

Sunday September 18th- National Cheeseburger Day

Burgers, Babes and Booze helps celebrate National Cheeseburger Day at W Miami on Sunday, September 18. Mingle with some of Miami’s favorite female chefs from 3 PM until sundown on the terrace of 15th & Vine while indulging in their most inventive cheeseburger creations, and enjoying beats by a local lady DJ. Sunshine Provisions will be providing the meat for the event. Participating chefs include Nicole Votano of DIRT; Adrianne Calvo of Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar; Cindy Hutson of Zest; and Jessica Sanchez of Loba. The event is $35 per person and includes four sliders of the guests choice (it is National Cheeseburger Day after all!), two sides from 15th & Vine, and one beer from a local Miami brewery. Miami's favorite steakhouse, STK Miami Beach, offers guests a menu featuring reimagined classic American cuisine. Sunday September 18th- Experience the art of The Perfect Crudo with Chef Paul Qui and Chef de Cuisine Derek Salkin on Sunday, September 18 from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM at Pao by Paul Qui. Guests will be able to sit back and relax while the chefs demonstrate five different styles of raw fish preparations –sashimi, ceviche, tiradito,kinilaw and crudo. Each preparation will have a specific focus on the following ingredients: acids, salts, fats, aromatics, as well as techniques such as slicing, marinating, curing, and necessary for each respective preparation.  Tickets are $95 per person, or $130 with Sake Pairing, exclusive of tax and service charge. Thursday September 22nd- The Traymore at COMO Metropolitan hosts Gin + Jazz from 7-10 pm featuring the classic sounds of the 1930’s and the smooth voice of Ashley Pezzotti with Langley gin cocktails at Miami’s only gin bar.  The Traymore 2445 Collins Ave. Miami Beach FL305 695 3600.

Sunday September 25th- National Lobster Day- FUN FACT: National Lobster Day was moved to September 25th in 2015 by an act of the U.S. Senate. The resolution was introduced by Maine Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, after no one could find any official approval of the National Lobster Day celebrated on June 15th. However the old National Lobster Day, June 15th, is still being widely celebrated today. Keep the old and the new, we say.
