Orange Bowl Burger Battle Presented by Vet Tix on Game Day at the Capital One Orange Bowl

The 2019 Capital One Orange Bowl will take place at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday, December 30 at 8:00 p.m. as the University of Florida Gators face off against the Virginia University Cavaliers, but the match-up that we are extra excited for is the Orange Bowl Burger Battle Presented by Vet Tix, which will take place prior to the game at the Capital One Orange Bowl Fan Fest.

Game attendees with a ticket to the Capital One Orange Bowl are invited to attend the 2019 Orange Bowl Burger Battle Presented by VetTix at 3:45 p.m. where restaurants representing both teams will go head-to-head to grill the best burger.

Representing the University of Florida (who won the Orange Bowl 36-28) is The Swamp Restaurant (who won the OB Burger Battle) from Gainesville, Fla. The Swamp Restaurant will grill up the “Freshman 15 Burger” featuring an 8-ounce short rib chuck patty piled high with grilled onions, bacon, jalapenos, American cheese, pepper jack cheese, and a sunny-side up egg on a brioche bun. That’s definitely a burger we are ready to enjoy!

Representing the University of Virginia is Citizen Burger Bar from Charlottesville, Va. Citizen Burger Bar will prepare “Mini Citizen Burgers.” The Mini Citizen Burger features double “smash style” grass-fed all-beef patties on a brioche bun with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, black onion, McClure Swiss and their house “Citizen” sauce. We don’t know what “smash style” means, but we can’t wait to find out.

This year's Orange Bowl Hall of Fame presented by AutoNation inductees will serve as the official judges along with a representative from Vet Tix who will crown the 2019 Best Burger Champion. In addition, select members of the media will vote for their “Foodie Favorite” burger. MIA Bites will be there to cover the tasty tailgate event and to vote for our favorite burger.
