Arcano, Sabores de Esencia Hispana: a Culinary Journey through Hispanic Cuisine
As summer begins, many of us are looking forward to spending quality time with friends and family. And what better way to celebrate than by discovering a new dining experience? If you're ready for bold flavors, good vibes, and a whole lot of corazón, Arcano is ready to take you on a delicious ride.
The name Arcano comes from the Latin word meaning "secret" or "hidden” and is a fitting title for a restaurant full of delightful culinary surprises. From innovative drinks to creative dishes, Arcano offers a fresh take on the diverse flavors of Hispanic cuisine.
The ambiance sets the tone from the moment you walk in, with a beautiful bar and an open kitchen that invites you to be part of the action. Whether you’re in the mood for a familiar favorite or feel like venturing into something new, the menu offers something for everyone, including options for different tastes and dietary preferences.
I began my culinary journey with the signature Hoja Santa cocktail, a unique blend of infused Don Julio Añejo tequila, clove jarabe, and black walnut. But what truly set it apart was the unexpected pairing: roasted baby corn served on the side. Taking a bite between sips elevated the drink to a whole new level.
We kicked off our meal with a Ceviche, made with fresh Corvina and served in a vibrant strawberry leche de tigre. The flavor was unlike any ceviche I’ve had before. It was sweet, citrusy, and refreshing. It came with crispy, homemade malanga chips that were almost too pretty to eat but, of course, we devoured them.
Next came the Crudo de Lomito, beef tenderloin carpaccio topped with a coffee emulsion, watercress, Honduran cheese, and ancestral seeds. Not only was it beautifully presented, but our server also guided us on how to fold it for the perfect bite ensuring a balanced burst of flavor with every mouthful. For the main course, we shared three dishes:
Quinua Roja de los Andes, served cold. It was a hearty and vibrant salad made with Andean red quinoa, mushrooms, bell peppers, mango, watercress, and onions.
Pargo Caribeño, A perfectly cooked snapper filet resting on a bed of tropical rice, marinated with a tangy achiote-lime sauce.
Pato con Mole, Seared duck breast served atop a rich spiced mole and velvety corn purée. The corn purée was an unexpected and delicious touch that brought the dish together beautifully.
For dessert, we enjoyed a creamy corn flan and house-made gelato, both simple yet satisfying endings to a wonderful meal.
