On Friday, June 19th, Chef Marcus Samuelsson and his Red Rooster Overtown team will officially debut The Creamery at Red Rooster Overtown.

Directly adjacent the soon-to-open restaurant, The Creamery will give the community a first taste of what's to come when the main restaurant opens. In addition to being available for takeout and delivery, guests can also enjoy meals and snacks in the restaurant's backyard, outfitted with ten picnic tables placed 6 feet apart. (And check out the newest addition to the Red Rooster Overtown footprint: A hydroponic Container farm from Hammock Greens.)

The Creamery at Red Rooster Overtown will have eight different ice cream flavors on the menu such as Marcus' Cornbread (Honey Butter Caramel, Blackberry Jam); Ode to Havana (Cream Cheese Ice Cream, Guava Jam, Maria Biscuits); and the 7th Inning Stretch (Berber Caramel Corn, Caramel, Potato Chips).

Additional options to choose from, include a “first taste” of savory items, like a handful of chicken dishes from the "Bird Menu" and sides from the "Side Chicks” section like CK's Chicken Waffles (Crispy Yard Bird, Malted Waffle, Pickled Cabbage); Chips and Chicks (Spicy Dorowat Chicken Chili, Cheddar Cheese Sauce, Plantain Chips); Yep! Mac and Cheese (White Cheddar, Black Pepper, Scallions); and Grains and Greens (Local Greens, Sour Orange, Green Goddess, Cauliflower, Farro).

Last but certainly not least, The Creamery will also offer a “Sundae” Supper for 4 for those looking to enjoy a delicious four-course meal including a starter, main course, sides and dessert with family or friends.

On June 20th, to honor Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when the Emancipation Proclamation was read aloud freeing slaves, Samuelsson himself will be hosting a celebration sponsored by La Fête du Rosé, a black-owned rosé brand. Starting at noon in the backyard, guests can celebrate with a DJ, rosé, and bites from The Creamery. Please note that seating will be limited and spaced accordingly as to remain in compliance with the city's recommended social distancing guidelines.

This will be a wonderful chance to say thank you and support Chef Tristen Epps and the team that partnered with Food Rescue US- Miami and World Central Kitchen to provide free meals to those furloughed, unemployed, homeless or food insecure in the neighborhood. Over 9000 meals were prepared and distributed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for over 10 weeks out of the restaurants The Coop garden area.
