Miami Spice has always been a favorite time of year for me as a native Miamian. I love seeing familiar favorites and new restaurants on the list every year.

Barcelona Wine Bar: This wine bar is a gem in Wynwood on a regular day (or for happy hour), but their Miami Spice offering ($45, Monday-Thursday, Sunday) is one of the best deals in town. From the plentiful options for Spanish tapas style appetizers, I would choose their Jamon Mangalica or Aged Manchego. For entrees, I would go with their Charcoal Grilled Pulpo, Gambas al Ajillo, and Spiced Beef Empanadas. And for dessert, I would definitely try their Basque Burnt Cheesecake. 310 NW 25 th Street, Miami, FL 33127

Kaori: A tucked away Pan-Asian restaurant in Brickell, this might be my favorite pick of the season. Go for dinner ($60, Monday-Saturday) and choose the Grilled Mushroom, Seared Local Fish, and Mango Amazake Cake. These dishes are light, flavorful, and unforgettable. Be sure to get the wine pairing ($40 for three pairings)! 871 S Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33130

La Cabrera – Coconut Grove: I’m so happy this Buenos Aires institution is finally in Miami! Their lunch menu ($35, Monday-Sunday) for Miami Spice is a great deal and lets you try their menu highlights. Go with the Grilled Provolone, the NY Strip Steak (12 oz), and Caramel Crepes. Miami Spice also available for dinner ($60, Monday – Sunday). 2895 McFarlane Rd., Coconut Grove, FL 33133

Sra. Martinez: Having been to the original Design District restaurant that opened in 2008, Coral Gables is lucky to have this culinary resurrection in the heart of Downtown. From the dinner menu ($60, Monday-Sunday), I would order the Squash Blossoms, Oxtail Paella (melting bone marrow!), and Michy’s Bread Pudding. 2325 Galiano Street, Coral Gables, FL 33134

While known for its refined Japanese menu, the real surprise on the lunch menu might be the whole roasted cauliflower—an unexpected vegetarian standout served with whipped feta-tofu that’s deliciously satisfying. Don’t miss the crispy rice with tuna to start; it’s a house favorite for good reason. Desserts here are indulgent, inventive and the perfect sweet finale to a polished meal. Lunch $35 Monday-Friday Bal Harbour Shops 9700 Collins Ave. Bal Harbour

Zucca – Located in the Hotel St. Michel, Zucca serves refined Italian cuisine made with care and authenticity in the heart of Coral Gables. Café La Trova- I love Café La Trova. It’s one of my go to spots for hosting out-of-town guests. The vibe is always lively with live Cuban music. The food is incredible, thanks to James Beard Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein. And a three-course menu for $45? That’s a win in my book. Starters like croquetas and empanadas, plus Cuban classics like skirt steak ropa vieja, and lechón for the main course. Yes, please! $45 Dinner M, T, W, TH, Su 971 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33130
